"Mission statements should be meaningful and specific yet motivating. They should emphasize the company’s strengths in the marketplace. Too often, mission statements are written for public relations purposes and lack specific, workable guidelines. Says marketing consultant Jack Welch"Pg. 41, Armstrong & Kotler (2011). Marketing: An Introduction, 10th Ed. Prentice Hall Publishing.

Phileas Fogg's Husky Smoked Salmon Chip isn't just another snack: it's mission is to make people smile around the world  by selling the best quality snacks with passion, excellence, and innovation. "When you are looking for a pick-me-up snack, you will find your Super-Hero within, packed with Power in every bite." We use the number one fresh Idaho potatoes, pink salmon  and Himalayan pink salt (Himalayan Salt:Gluten-Free, Non-GMO, Kosher, Certified Organic). This chip is shaped like a Salmon and packaged in a resealable bag.
             http://sewb4us.blogspot.com/
the first though of eating a salmon flavord chip is kinda sickning, butafter readin her mission staement i've become really curios  about trying it. who knows what it migh taste like but the writing isvery creative, short and to the point. capitalizing the nouns in the mission statement, brings out the product out more and I definatly
 will remember it.

"Companywide strategic planning guides marketing strategy and planning. Like marketing strategy, the company’s broad strategy must also be customer focused". Pg. 39, Armstrong & Kotler (2011). Marketing: An Introduction, 10th Ed. Prentice Hall Publishing.

Sofrito's mission is to be world's premier product company focused on convenient chips. We seek to produce financial rewards to investors as we provide opportunities for growth. In everthing we do we will strive for success whether its a fundraiser to a new business idea in the works.

But mission statements should be market oriented and defined in terms of satisfying basic customer needs. Products and technologies eventually become outdated, but basic market needs may last forever.
Few leaders actually get the point of forging a mission with real grit and meaning. [Mission statements] have largely devolved into fat-headed jargon. Almost no one can figure out what they mean. [So companies] sort of ignore them or gussy up a vague package deal along the lines of: “our mission is to be the best fill-in-the-blank company in our industry.” [Instead, Welch advises, CEOs should] make a choice about how your company will win. Don’t mince words!

Marketing: An Introduction for Education Management Corporation page 40=41

http://jquik.blogspot.com/ I believe this mission statement is a good one because as you read it you can tell that the writer is targeting the adults that enjoy a snack while having an alcoholic beverage. It also mentions all flavors around the world so if a person is curious about different varieties from different parts of the world. Last is the part when the writer mentions about instant ice breakers. We all know everyone loves an ice breaker especially somewhere people like to socialize such as a bar with a snack, very good. http://marketingjess.blogspot.com/  this mission statement is strong in a few areas. First is the product quality and that alone is strong to get customers interested. Another part is “unpeeled potatoes,” when I hear this, it tells me either they take time to peel they’re own potatoes or they get them already peeled which would catch the eyes of many also. Overall could have had a little more to offer but good enough to sell. http://vegasvicphoto.blogspot.com/  the main reason I actually enjoy and like this mission statement is because it is catchy. When you have statement that can catch the eye of your audience with a few words or word you have something special. It also mentions that this is a snack that one can enjoy during a game on television while having alcohol. Last the part where it says it will be stuck on your mind the whole time, that is literally what it is all about.

An organization exists to accomplish something, and this purpose should be clearly stated. Forging a sound mission begins with the following questions: What is our business? Who is the customer? What do consumers value? What should our business be? These simple-sounding questions are among the most difficult the company will ever have to answer. Successful companies continuously raise these questions and answer them carefully and completely.

Finally, a company’s mission should not be stated as making more sales or profits—profits are only a reward for creating value for customers.

EOC: Week 8 my creation

                                                          EOC: Week 8 My Creation

Using a camera, a bag of chips and some type of photo editing, I’m going to create a brand new product bag for the world to marvel. I’m going to use characters from Jules Verne’s book “Around the World in 80 Days” bring my brand new product to life for the world to see and want. Taking the time of setting a light box and take pictures from different angles, the place the pictures onto Photoshop and changing the whole image, adding character’s from the book to represent my new product. My characters will be dressed to represent from the country of origin. I might even try to hand draw and paint, everything is new to me. I took the time and took a couple of bags of chips, photograph the bags and changing the image on the computer; sounds easy, but it’s my first time trying this whole new idea. Transferring  the pictures to the computer and adding some pictures of the great Phileas Fogg and adding them to my project and cross my fingers and hope it comes out the way I want it. If not, I’ll keep trying to achieve the look I want to get. It seem that every time I turn around in my marketing class, there is another challenge for me, the writing part has come out of me naturally, but the creation of my product using my other skills have been a bit challenging. I have a couple of paint and draw programs that I’m going to use on my Ipad and incorporate everything together.

Week 8 BOC; the adventure

                                                              Week 8 BOC; the adventure
I Phileas Fogg was on my way through Mexico; I  have a tall tale to share with you that will have your mouth watering, your stomach gurgling and your imagination yearning for more.  Cutting through the back alleys of Mexico, with a plastic knife in one hand, and a cold beer in the other, splashing through deep puddles and aromas throughout the air, I’m on the hunt of a dead animal. Running with flip-flops, dodging rat-dogs, old ladies trying to marry off their daughters, at times running into a small stinky bar for shelter; the things I do for an edible treat to bring to you for your pleasure. Suddenly a scent, like no other cuts through the air, you can taste the salt and the lard being used to cook this snack that lingers in the air. As I’m being thrown out of another bar, I’m dodging donkeys, swinging from clothes lines, and jumping over small children selling Chiclets. No, no, I yell at the local brothel, not today, tomorrow will be better; I must move faster across the street, before the smell disappears. I see it, at the end of small dark alley, a small shiver of sunlight, shines upon the makeshift outdoor kitchen, a fire can be seen under a black metal bowl, and behind the fire is an old woman as tall as a leprechaun, wrinkled from head to toe and dark from the sun. As I ventured in the alley, with a small knife in hand, I’m surrounded by donkeys, small children; unwedded woman, and the women of the brothels that I owe money to from the other night. I hop on the donkey; grab a small child to use as a battering ram to cut through the women to reach that glories smell that I can taste in the air. This damn donkey won’t move; I’m such a jack-ass, I throw the small child at the unwedded women, kissing the women from the brothels, telling them I’ll be back, landing on my hands and knees in front the burning cauldron asking for a taste of this delight that fills the air. The old lady hands me a bag of these small, greasy, salty, puffed treats, then tells me to squeeze some lime and add powder of spices. Slowly, I place one in my mouth, the crunch fills the air, and the tangy flavor fills my mouth, and then followed by a salty heat. One after another, I consume the entire bag, licking the bottom of the bag, I look up at my creator of this treat and ask her what are they, she smiles with a number of teeth that can counted on one hand, they are the skin of a pig. Wow, I wanted more, but also give it a snack to the world to have next to your favorite bevarge.

eoc week seven "the pitch" final project

                                          Beer Buddy Pork Rinds
The salty, spicy, pork snack, that brings the flair of flavors from Mexico, into your hand.

                                                       The Food
The salty, spicy snack, that brings the adventures flavors from Mexico in your hand.

" You'll be licking our bottom",
                                                               of our bag
A leftover and remnant of the colonization of Spain, Mexico is one of the world's largest producers and consumers of pork rinds, known as chicharrón or cuerito. As in Spain, the chicharrón is the rind with fat still attached.
Cueritos are easily available in Mexico as an antojo and are sold on the streets by vendors. It is usually served with a Chile salsa and lime as well as salt.

                                                      The flavor
Our pork rind comes with different flavors including a cilantro, lime, jalapeno, and our most popular Mole' flavored, a mixture of chili peppers, spices with a Mexican chocolate creating a dark, rich, spicy and slightly sweet snack.
                                                          The Adventure
A few years ago, drinking in a bar, close to a beach, somewhere in Mexico, with a cold beer in hand, toes in the sand, and the taste of salt in my mouth. Tired of the same , old chips and salsa, I craved something different to satisfies my hunger, of something salty, spicy and tangy. With a buzz in me head and flip-flops on my feet, I'm off to find what I crave, one bar at a time. After a few cerveza's; that's beer in Spanish, and few shots of tequila to chase, and hand print across my face; my Spanish is really bad, and she was really hot....." I think". Waking up in a back alley; with my clothes on, thank god, I've done a lot worse with a lot of less alcohol inside of me, a smell comes across my nose. A smell of oil, and not that healthy oil like, peanut, olive, or sunflower oil, but the smell of menteca; that's lard in Spanish, that's two words, in Spanish in know. With a crooked smile on my face, beer in hand; never spilled a drop while I was passed out, There stands a old Mexican woman, no taller than a jockey, not as dark as a raisin, but just as wrinkle. Stirring with a wooden spoon in the bottomn cut of an oil drum, sits a couple of hundred of small, puffed, slightly brown treat, swimming in hot melted lard. Hungry and buzzed with anticipation; as a  liquid starts to slides out of the side of my mouth. As I approached this tiny goddess, a smile emerges from the layers of leather skin with teeth that can be numbered on one hand. I asked what she was cooking; there was someone to translate for me."It's skin from a pig"  the translator tells me. Now i was ready to stumble away from that back alley, but I was hungry. Pork skin, why would you eat something that is used probably for shoes, and catchers mitts, but I was hungry, and dying to try something new, so I asked for some. In a small plastic bag, there some cooked pork skin, a couple of limes, and a small bag of chili spices to mix with pork skins. I dust the pork skins with the spices, squeeze the tart/tangy juices of the lime, twist the plastic bag, and shake, as I open the bag, small vapors of this delectable treat curve into my soul through my nose. I bite into my first cooked pork skin: they dissolve into my mouth leaving the saltiness I crave, but with a profound of heat and tartness. I consumed the bag within seconds, and asking for more: I asked my translator what these devilish treats were called; Chicharron. Did I mention my translator was a women, and she was the one who left her hand print on my face.

eoc: week 6 MEx3

When I first hit puberty and started growing facial for the first time,I started using BIC disposable shavers, but never satisfied with the end results. I even tried rechargeable electric razors like Norelco, it's a electric razor that my father used and I used for a short period of time, but never got the results I wanted. I realized that I got a closer shave from a blade, even if it was a cheap blade. One day I tried the Gillette Mach III, and fell in live with the product. It did what I wanted, it gave me a close clean shave. the Mach III is not a cheap product, your looking at a price of $30.00 for fifteen blades, but they last a long time even when the blue strip fades away. One day my wife gave me the Shick Quantro, and I tried it, it had four blades compare to the three blades on the Mach III, It didn't give me the same results at all. eventually I went back to Gillette and I'm willing to pay the price for comfort.

What more can you say about shoe than comfort for the soul. What I mean, when I don't think how my feet feel during the day, and how they feel at the end of the day, I feel very relaxed and free. As a comparison, I've tried  Reebok shoes and never got the same response from my feet as I did from Nike shoes, plus the Reebok never lasted as long as the Nike's. Now days Nike makes their shoes for all kind of activities like running, cross-fit, basketball, and for work. Nike has given me comfort for my feet throughout the years and you can choose different colors and styles for whatever lifestyle your into. You don't have to be a athlete to enjoy Nike's, they are also a fashion statement, a accessory for clothing. Now days you have more choices than shoes like sunglasses. t-shirts, shorts and electronic equipment to help your work out; getting ready for a marathon,

What can you say about the IPhone, but it became a game changer in technology and the way we run our lives. I finally got my first iPhone a year and half ago, but I owned a itouch for many years. The Itouch did just about everything the IPhone did, but it couldn't make calls, or connected to the Internet without having wifi around. The Itouch never took pictures you say; not in the beginning, but they do now. Yet the IPhone became for me the best multi-media toy to have, and it's one of those devices that you can't leave home without, "I have driven back home many times to get my iPhone, I didn't care if I was half way to work. The iPhone does about everything for me, but here is some of my favorites things that my iPhone does; it saves and plays a lot of music, and I mean a lot. Growing up during the eighties, the Walkman was the toy to have; one tape in and two or three in your pockets. On my iPhone I usually have at least ten to fifteen albums; I also have a couple of Internet radio to choose from. Another item on the iphone is the camera; I remember reading somewhere that the best camera to have is the one on your person; I always have my iphone on me and I,'m always taking pictures with it. With the Iphone, there is all the photo editing apps to choose from, and be creative with, and you can send and share with family and friends.

mid term eoc

                                                     Ambassadors at Work

this concept of hiring a group of people and train them on your product and promote it to potential costumers is not a big thing, but if the ambassador is in love withe product and the company, then it begins to be a bigger deal for the company and the buying world. it's an interesting idea of selling your products. give the product to a group of people, train them how to use it and let them go to share with who ever they come across. Of course they are getting paid for the work they do but  the money doesn't mean much, it's the love of the company is there enjoyment. the will play with product in every way, shape, or form, and share it with there families, friends, coworkers and people on the Internet through social networks.

More companies are trying to tap Facebook Inc.'s 750-million-plus user base to find new employees,
                 http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424053111903885604576490763.. By JOE LIGHT

an interesting article in the wall street journal about how companies are finding employees to work for them through Facebook. The social network giant is making waves for people who use the site everyday. people today have more connection social networks like  Facebook, Twitter and different type of blogs. this is a great way to reach a bigger type of audience to promote ones company and find recruits to work for that same company. you'll see little ads for companies, and you will hit the like button on it, then boom all of your friends will see that you like a certain product or company. even politicians, actors, music artist, painters and so on. friend of friend will want to check out why you like what you do and they might just buy the product, or shop in the stores, go to the movies or go to a concert. yes it can even change your vote. what a better way to sell your products on line with others, and cheap too. hire people that are on the social network and promote what you are selling, and get paid for it. even better for people who could use a part time job for extra cash, spending a few hours a week on line and out in the field meeting people to sell some or all of your products.
